Visit Cyprus
We want to start by saying that we are most definitely bias. We ♥ Cyprus. But we wanted to share with you why we feel like this and give you the Top 10 reasons to visit Cyprus this year.
We know that these are strange times with a lot of uncertainty. Everyone wants a holiday but they also want to keep themselves and their family safe.
As you know we’ve put into place ‘new normals’ in terms of hygiene and safety procedures and you can get a full refund if travel plans change too with our ‘book with confidence‘ promise.
But why else should you visit Cyprus this year?
1. The Weather
One of the most talked about topics if you are British and one of the reasons why around one million British nationals visit Cyprus every year*. With the monthly temperature on average 10℃ warmer than the UK and an average of 3000 sunny hours per year, Cyprus is a fabulous destination for your holiday. Temperatures can soar to the mid-thirties and the water is in the mid-twenties. So, leave the midsummer rain and come to our Mediterranean isle and soak up the sun.
2. The Beaches
The beaches in Cyprus are sandy and clean and the water is crystal clear! Don’t take our word for it; many of the beaches in Cyprus have been awarded the blue flag for recognised water quality and cleanliness. Cyprus has hundreds of miles of beautiful coastline overlooking the Mediterranean sea offering an incredible array of beach moments. Whether you are looking for a beach to splash about with kids, beaches to lounge near to, unspoilt beaches for wild swims, secluded spots for privacy or somewhere wonderful to scuba dive or snorkel – Cyprus has it in spades.
3. The Food
By now you’ll know that food is high on our agenda. Cypriot dishes are a mix of Greek and Turkish influence but one thing is for sure; everything is fresh, super healthy and grown on the island! Think charcoal grilled pork and chicken ‘souvla’, fish, sausages, big salads, vegetables, rich pasta dishes and of course halloumi. Share small plates and graze the afternoon away. Do not miss out on trying a Cypriot Meze – a wonderful selections of dishes.
4. History
Cyprus’s history goes back some 10,000 years to the Neolithic and Byzantine age. Pay a trip to the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia to get a better understanding or visit the various ancient ruins that can be found all over the island. From the Tombs of the Kings and Kato Paphos Archaeological Park to the Colosseum in Paphos; if you’re into architecture and fancy yourself as a historian, then Cyprus has so much to discover.
5. The Culture
As you’d expect from a country steeped in history, the island is a culture hub for festivals celebrating music, food, wine and dance. From Limassol Carnival, which takes place 50 days before Lent and goes on for 11 days and the Classical Music Festival in Larnaca in April to the Limassol Wine Festival in the Summer and the Jazz Festival in the Winter, you’ll be spoilt for choice. And if you needed any more evidence of the country’s cultural status, then look no further than Paphos which was crowned ‘European City of Culture’ in 2017.
6. Things to do
On your Cyprus villa holiday, you don’t have to do anything at all if you don’t want to. Simply relax in your luxury villa, enjoy the private pool, and use all the amenities. Alternatively, you can explore what Cyprus has to offer.
If you love nature, consider trekking the Avakas Gorge or hiking along Coral Bay’s stunning seafront. These activities are especially enjoyable for families. For something more thrilling, try exploring the island on a quad bike or challenge your family to go-karting.
If the sea beckons, hire a boat in Latchi. Swim in the crystal-clear waters and discover the EDRO III shipwreck near Sea Caves. Even though Cyprus is a small island, it has plenty to explore. We hope you have enough time to enjoy it all!
7. Night Life
If you’re seeking a lively holiday, Cyprus is the place to be. The island is famous for its vibrant nightlife, especially in Ayia Napa, Limassol, and Paphos. You’ll find clubs, pubs, and bars offering a range of entertainment to suit every taste.
Bars and clubs usually get busy after midnight, so you can spend your days soaking up the sun and exploring the culture. When the sun goes down, the party heats up. If you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, head to Paphos Old Town for wine bars and restaurants.
Along the coast, check out popular beach clubs like Sandy Beach, Cabana Beach Club, and Alpostro in Limassol. These spots feature DJs every day until late, allowing you to enjoy cocktails and fruit platters from your sun lounger while soaking in the vibrant scene.
8. The Wine
Cyprus isn’t typically known for its wine, but in fact, it is one of the country’s biggest economic contributors. Cyprus is also thought to be where it all began some 6000 years ago, with Italy, France and Greece then jumping on their bright idea and developing their own wine industry as a result. Wine tasting and visiting the plethora of vineyards in Cyprus is one of the most popular activities in Cyprus. We can help you to organise your excursion and make sure you have a taxi booked to get you home.
9. Friendly Faces
One of the reasons that holidaymakers keep coming back and many people move to our little island is the friendly locals and their attitude to life. They are passionate in life and love and go out of their way to make people feel at welcome and relaxed. Regardless of how long you are staying with us, Cyprus will soon become your second home.
10. Romance
Cyprus is one of the most romantic countries on the planet. We’ve played host to countless engagements and weddings, so we really know what we are talking about here. Whether it’s Aphrodite’s Rock in Paphos, which is said to be the birthplace of the Goddess of Love, the warmth you feel from the locals or the stunning scenery, it will be hard not to fall in love with Cyprus.
With cheap flights available from all UK airports plus the excellent transport connections between cities, getting here and then around the island couldn’t be easier. We can’t wait to see you, so as soon as the travel bans are lifted we will be here, waiting to welcome you.
